Guide and Service Dogs
Guide and service dogs meeting the criteria of the Guide Dog and Service Dog Act of British Columbia are welcome throughout Harbour House Hotel at no charge, including dogs graduated from a member organization of the International Guide Dog Federation or Assistance Dogs International.
As per BC's Guide Dog & Service Dog Certification, emotional support animals are not recognized under this legislation. To avoid any delay at check-in, we kindly ask guests travelling with a certified animal to have proof of certification on hand upon arrival at Harbour House.
Service Dogs
If you're travelling with a certified service dog, please have your BC service dog ID card available at check-in. There's no fee and no restriction on your dog's presence in the hotel.
Emotional Support & Comfort Dogs
If your dog isn't a certified service dog but assists with a disability, please let us know at the time of booking. We'll ask what task or function the dog provides, and documentation from a healthcare provider is welcome (though not required). This helps us waive the standard pet fee where it applies.
Pets
We love happy travelling dogs. A $50 pet fee applies per stay, which covers the extra cleaning your room will need. Please note Harbour House accommodates dogs only — we're unable to host cats or other household pets.

Why leave the best member of the family at home? Salt Spring Island is a dog's kind of place — harbourside strolls along Ganges, forest trails climbing toward Mount Maxwell, and enough salt air and driftwood to keep any nose busy for days. At Harbour House Hotel, we've been welcoming island visitors since 1916, and that includes the four-legged ones.
Pet-friendly accommodations are limited to a select number of rooms not all room categories are pet-friendly, we kindly ask that you request one specifically at the time of booking to ensure availability for you and your companion.
A nightly fee of $50 applies for your first pet, and $20 for your second.

IMPORTANT:

Pet-friendly rooms must be requested at the time of reservation, as these accommodations are subject to availability and booked directly with us.

Dogs must be leashed on hotel grounds, and recommended throughout the village of Ganges.

Please don't leave your dog alone and unattended in your room at any time.

Guests are required to sign a pet waiver/agreement and are liable for any damages or repairs beyond normal wear and tear.

Any damage caused by your dog will be charged at cost, starting at $500 — this includes chewed furniture, stains, odour beyond routine cleaning.

Any noise complaints resulting in refunds to other guests will be charged to the pet guest's room.

Housekeeping will only service your room while your dog is crated, in a carrier, or out with you — if that's not possible on a given day, we'll skip your room's service and you're welcome to request fresh towels or linens at the front desk instead.
